Blog Journal #10

Blog Journal #10    Since the beginning of the semester, my PLN has grown and changed. In terms of people, I have met many new teachers and staff from the College of Education, whom I can ask about any teaching questions. For spaces, I have been introduced to the Technology Sandbox in Anne's College, which allows me to experience and test many classroom technologies. Finally, in terms of tools, I have gained many skills on social media so that I can use it for teaching inspiration and other useful purposes.     I could use data-collection tools to assess students' understanding in my classroom. Since I want to teach third grade, I could use it at the beginning of more fact-based lessons. I could make a short quiz to assess comprehension of the last lesson before we begin the new one. Then, I could use the tools again at the end of the lesson to see how much information students retained.     The next technology-related skill that I want to learn is ho...

Blog Journal #9

Blog Journal #9     My main experience with distance learning in K-12 was during the COVID-19 outbreak. We used technologies such as Zoom, Google Classroom, and online math resources. I found a page of OER resources and clicked on the "games" tab to explore. There are hundreds of educational games for different subjects to support students' understanding.  OER Games     I learned many PowerPoint skills from doing Assignment 4. I did not previously know how to record myself on PowerPoint, but it was fairly self-explan...

Blog Journal #8     I learned a lot of new skills while designing my website. One of the main things I had to learn was how to arrange the elements within the website. I figured out how to use spacing, sections, and much more. I wish that the website designer allowed you to move elements more freely, but other than that, I thought it was pretty user-friendly. I can use this to make a future classroom website.     QR codes make websites easily accessible without having to type in a URL. I have had teachers use QR codes as links to quick quizzes or websites. I could use something along those lines in my classroom. I think that QR codes could be useful for quick games or check-in quizzes where I want rapid results. Ethical Case: “The AI Writing Buddy” Scenario: Ms. Rivera, a 4th-grade teacher, introduces a generative AI tool called WordPal to help students with creative writing. The tool can suggest ideas, improve word choice, and correct grammar. Her goal is to m...
