I learned a lot of new skills while designing my website. One of the main things I had to learn was how to arrange the elements within the website. I figured out how to use spacing, sections, and much more. I wish that the website designer allowed you to move elements more freely, but other than that, I thought it was pretty user-friendly. I can use this to make a future classroom website.
QR codes make websites easily accessible without having to type in a URL. I have had teachers use QR codes as links to quick quizzes or websites. I could use something along those lines in my classroom. I think that QR codes could be useful for quick games or check-in quizzes where I want rapid results.
Ethical Case: “The AI Writing Buddy”
Scenario:
Ms. Rivera, a 4th-grade teacher, introduces a generative AI tool called WordPal to help students with creative writing. The tool can suggest ideas, improve word choice, and correct grammar. Her goal is to make writing more enjoyable and less intimidating for her students.
After a few weeks, she notices a few issues:
Some students rely heavily on WordPal and begin copying full paragraphs rather than writing their own ideas.
Parents raise concerns that their children’s voices are being “lost” because AI is changing how they write.
The school’s technology policy does not yet address generative AI, so it’s unclear what’s appropriate use or what data WordPal might collect from students.
One student’s personal information was accidentally entered into WordPal when prompted to “write a story about yourself,” raising potential privacy concerns under COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
If I were Ms. Rivera in this scenario, I would take WordPal out of use in my classroom. The students are not using the AI tool for honest academic purposes. Instead, they are letting this tool do all of the work for them, and, therefore, not learning from the writing process. In my opinion, it would be most useful to get rid of this counterproductive tool for students and eliminate the temptation to engage in academic dishonesty.
Your website design is very consistent and visually pleasing. I feel like there is an appropriate amount going on on each page, and there isn't too much white space. You used white space to make the website visually appealing, and to prevent it from becoming a jumbled mess.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma! Your website design is very accessible on both mobile and desktop devices making it perfect for easy referencing at any time. The theme is consistent throughout the website making the site look organized and clear. The proximity of each section clearly separates topics while still keeping them aligned in an orderly fashion. Overall, great work on the site.
ReplyDeleteThe repetition in your website was done very well. The color theme is consistent and teacher friendly. The alignment is good because everything is centered and well arranged. The proximity is helpful because related information is grouped together. The overall website was great however there wasn’t as much contrast as the rest of the other concepts. Amazing job!
ReplyDeleteHi Emma! You did a great job on your website. I thought it was very visually appealing and consistent throughout. It is very organized and fits the design principles well. There wasn't too much going on on each page, so it wasn't overwhelming, but there was also not too much white space. Great work!
